OR International was founded in 2001 with the objective of developing and operating specialty hospitals internationally that achieve distinctively excellent clinical and economic performance:

• Adopt a wide range of best practices, largely derived from the US in development and in clinical care and support operations
  

ORI works in three ways:

1. As a hospital developer, ORI acts as a principal, investing its own funds, arranging other equity and other financing, and overseeing design, construction, equipping, information technology implementation, clinical and administrative recruiting and training and policy and procedure development along with all other pre-opening activity.

2. It also acts as a consulting developer, performing these functions on a fee-for-service basis.

3. ORI, through governance arrangements from shareholding and from management contracts, oversees the on-going clinical and operations management of its projects, working with affiliated US academic medical centers.
